Benihomare

Benihomare (紅芳) is the first black tea variety developed in Japan. Also known as “Cha Norin No. 1,” it was developed by the National Tea Research Institute in 1953. It is a variety with stable quality, high cold resistance, and easy to grow. Benihomare is particularly popular among domestically produced black teas, and its unique aroma and flavor are loved by many people.

It was produced extensively in Japan until the 1970s, but the number of producers gradually decreased. Since 2000, cultivation has been revived. It is made from Indian Assam black tea and is characterized by its rich color, rich flavor, and unique aroma.
